Happy new year 2019 🎉 and hello again! I’m giving my blog a reboot after the previous one got deleted by OpenShift 😣. Most of the previous posts are recoverable, I just need some time to recreate it using Markdown. This time, I’m choosing Hugo over Ghost as the engine. I got to know Hugo when contributing to GopherconSG’s website. The continous deployment using Netlify is very seamless, I just love the simplicity!

Git

I’ve been using GitKraken client at work. However, true that a lot of so called senior engineers, think that using client is for novice engineers 😓… although I don’t deny that using git command line … looks 😎 🤓. So here’s my git tips stash. Using alias to shorten commands. Inside your .gitconfig, add these: [alias] d = diff br = branch –all ci = commit co = checkout dh = diff HEAD lg = log –graph –pretty=format:'%Cred%h.

Vapor 3 Preview

Gave a talk at iOS Dev Scout this month about Vapor 3 which is still in preview mode, thanks to Yeo Kheng Meng from Engineers.sg who helped recording my talk! Engineers.sg page: https://engineers.sg/video/vapor-3-preview-ios-dev-scout--2585 Vapor has come to my attention since RayWenderlich launched a full course on it and it’s authored by Tim Condon who’s the contributor of Vapor himself! The development is exciting, however, I find the async (yes, async everywhere) concept more difficult to understand compared to protocol oriented programming on iOS.

First Visit to Taipei!

Warning! This is quite a lengthy blog post full of pictures from my recent trip to Taipei. It was a great idea to stop by Taipei on the way to Houston 🛬! When I knew that we’re going to US again, I’m happy to plan a stop in Taipei for a few days (since Dora is also stationed there for a while) before heading over to Houston. And EVA Air is just perfect to accomodate my plan.

Sims Vista Market When I started working in Singapore at Citylife Advertising, the office is located at Sims Drive. The area, despite being famous for so many foods along Geylang road on the other side, I didn’t have so many choices but to patronise Sims Vista Market.
